NYC Municipal ID Card Launches In Brooklyn

Last week, New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito alongside her colleagues and bill sponsors, Council Member Daniel Dromm and Council Member Carlos Menchaca, held a press conference at the Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn Public Library where they launched the IDNYC municipal identification program and signed up for their ID cards.

IDNYC is an opportunity for New York City residents to get access to city services, regardless of immigration status. The IDNYC card is a fundamental step to providing New Yorkers with a sense of equality and opportunity.

For the first time since leaving Haiti as a young child, Prajje Jr. Jean-Baptiste, founder of fashion company Prajje 1983, will return to Haiti to debut his latest collection in an exhibition entitled L’Art de la Mode. A man with a great deal of vision, Prajje started his company in 2003 with the goal of becoming a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry, and he is well on his way to seeing that goal come to fruition.

The National Association of Haitian Professionals (NAHP) hosted their 3rd annual conference “Haiti Beyond Haiti – Policies and Pathways to Effective Diaspora Engagement” on Nov. 14 – 15 at Harvard University. The conference which, assembled a diverse team of stakeholders from across the Haitian Diaspora, explored initaitves that would lead to effective engagement within the Haitian Diaspora and yield high-impact investment in Haiti.
